  • Can I choose my doctor?
    The first time you request a visit Teladoc will page the first available provider. On subsequent visits, you will have the option to select the same provider or the first available.
  • Are there a maximum number of images I can upload?
    Teladoc allows up to five images to be stored per visit.
  • How long will it take for the physician to respond to my visit request?
    Physicians have up to two (2) business days to diagnose or ask for more information if needed.
  • If I am given a prescription as a result of my visit, how will I be notified?"
    All diagnosis and prescription information will be managed through your Message Center.
  • Will I be speaking with a licensed dermatology provider?
    All Teladoc dermatologists are board-certified.
  • If my condition requires immediate attention, how will I be notified?"
    Teladoc will send you information through your Message Center but to ensure patient safety, Teladoc will also have a licensed clinician contact you by phone.
  • Can I address more than one condition when I request a visit with a dermatologist?
    Teladoc does ask that you limit the request for a visit to one medical condition.
  • Are there dermatology conditions not treated by Teladoc?
    The Teladoc dermatologist will determine treatment options based on the visit.
  • What can be shared with PCPs?
    We do not share a member’s medical record unless specifically asked for by the member. Image uploads are not available on the Teladoc portable continuity of care record but are always available in the member’s Teladoc medical health record.
  • Why do I have to fill out additional intake questions?
    In order to make sure our providers have the best information possible to assist members, we do require a short intake with specific questions about their dermatology issue.
  • Is Dermatology available in all states?
    Teladoc offers visits in states where tele-dermatology is allowed and within states where Teladoc provides telemedicine services.
  • Can a dermatology visit be scheduled for someone under the age of 18?
    Dermatology visits are available to all Teladoc members.
  • If the dermatologist has additional questions, how will I be notified?"
    The physician will send you a message through your Message Center asking for further clarification. You can choose how you are alerted that a new message is in your Message Center (i.e. text or email).
  • Do I have to have online access to have a Dermatology visit?
    Yes. Because of the nature of the Dermatology visit (required images and additional health information), you must have online access.
  • How much does it cost?

  • Do I talk to “real doctors”?
    Yes. Teladoc members only talk to actual doctors who are U.S. board-certified internists, state-licensed family practitioners, and pediatricians licensed to practice medicine in the U.S. and living in the U.S. When you request a visit, Teladoc will connect you with a doctor licensed in your state.
  • What are some of the common conditions Teladoc treats?
    Common conditions include sinus problems, respiratory infection, allergies, flu symptoms, and many other non-emergency illnesses.
  • Can Teladoc handle my emergency situations?
    Teladoc is designed to handle non-emergent medical problems. You should NOT use it if you are experiencing a medical emergency.
  • Can I request a particular doctor?
    You cannot request a particular doctor. Teladoc is designed to support your relationship with your existing doctor. It is not a means of establishing an exclusive relationship with one of our doctors. All Teladoc doctors are board-certified, state-licensed and go through rigorous training and credentialing.
  • Can I use it for my family?
    Yes, the HealthiestYou complete bundle allows you to use the Teladoc service for you, your spouse and your dependents.
  • Can I get a prescription?
    Teladoc does not guarantee prescriptions. It is up to the doctor to recommend the best treatment. Teladoc doctors do not issue prescriptions for substances controlled by the DEA, non-therapeutic, and/or certain other drugs which may be harmful because of their potential for abuse.   • How are prescriptions sent to the pharmacy?
    Teladoc does not dispense prescription drugs. If the doctor prescribes medication, it is submitted electronically (SureScripts) or by phone to the pharmacy of your choice.
  • Is my electronic health record kept private?
    Health records are kept totally private and we employ robust encryption methods to protect your personal information. You determine who can see the information in your record.
  • Can I be turned down for a pre-existing condition?
    We do not turn patients away because of pre-existing conditions.
  • Can I call Teladoc outside of the United States?
    Teladoc visits are unavailable outside of the United States.
  • How do I access the service?
    You can contact the Teladoc call center for assistance logging into your account.
  • Can I ask follow up questions?
    Follow-up questions can be directed to the provider within 7 days of the initial visit. All treatment plans will be communicated through your Message Center.
  • Do I have to upload an image?
    So that your Teladoc physician can properly review and diagnosis your condition, Teladoc does require a minimum of three (3) images be uploaded prior to scheduling your visit.
  • What types of images are allowed?
    Acceptable image file types: JPEG, GIF, PNG, 15MB max per image
  • Behavioral Health Do I have to schedule an appointment or can I just call and get the next available time?
    All Behavioral Health visits are scheduled. Teladoc does not support an on-demand option at this time.
  • How long is the typical Behavioral Health visit?
    Our first-time Behavioral Health visits average 45 minutes. Psychiatry visits vary in length based on the patient need.
  • Can a Behavioral Health visit be scheduled for someone under the age of 18?
    Teladoc will provide Behavioral Health services to anyone over the age of 18.
  • Can I use the Behavioral Health service for an emergency?
    This program is not intended to be used for emergency situations. Visit requests require an advance scheduling notification.
  • Are there Behavioral Health issues not treated by Teladoc?
    There are some prescriptions not provided by our service, but the licensed specialist will determine if you are best seen for an in-person visit for further evaluation.
  • What should I expect during my call?
    After completing a quick intake assessment you will have a conversation with the Behavioral Health professional just as if you were in person.
  • Can I talk to the same specialist each time I request a visit?
    Yes. A member can choose to see the same specialist or a different one. It’s your choice.
  • How secure is the communication line and who retains my medical records?
    Confidentiality is very important to Teladoc and we follow the same strict security protocols as we do for our core services. All medical records are kept in a secure environment and Teladoc does not share the information with anyone outside of the patient’s specific request or as required by law.
  • How do I access this service?
    Members can access the Behavioral Health service by logging into their account or by calling customer service.
  • What type of equipment do I need for a Behavioral Health visit?
    You will need a telephone for telephonic visits. For video visits, you will need to have internet connectivity and webcam. Video visits are strongly encouraged by our specialists.
  • What if I need medication?
    Psychiatrists are able to prescribe from a limited formulary. If the Behavioral Health specialist determines a different/higher level medication is appropriate, they may refer you for an in-person visit.
  • Can I select my doctor based on preferences such as specialty, gender, language?"
    Our specialist profiles display information about each Teladoc professional, including gender, language, and specialty. This information will display when making your specialist selection online.
  • Will I be able to schedule recurring appointments? If so, how far in advance can I schedule?"
    At the end of the visit, the provider will schedule a follow up if the individual specialist deems necessary. At this time, only the next visit can be scheduled.
  • Is there bilingual assistance provided when I contact Teladoc for the visit?
    Teladoc does display a provider’s languages on the profile screen when making your selection. If a bilingual Teladoc specialist is not available, an interpreter will be provided.
  • Is there a time limit on how long I can speak with a specialist?
    Our therapy visit is expected to be 45 minutes on average. Psychiatry visits vary based on patient need.
  • What type of Behavioral Health specialist does Teladoc have?
    Psychiatrist, Psychologist, Counselor, Clinical Social Workers, Therapist (Marriage and Family)
  • What types of specialists can prescribe medications?
    Only psychiatrists can prescribe medications.
  • Does Teladoc follow-up after each visit?
    Teladoc specialists utilize the member message center after each visit, but our licensed nursing staff will also be reaching out to patients directly by phone after their second and sixth visit to see how things are going. Ongoing outreach will occur as needed after the sixth visit.
  • What can be shared with PCPs?
    At this time Teladoc will not include your Behavioral Health visit information in the medical record that is sent to your primary care provider.
  • Why do I have to fill our additional intake questions?
    In order to make sure our specialist has the best information possible to assist members, we do require a short intake with specific questions about their Behavioral Health status.
  • What do I do if I feel I am in immediate danger of self-harm?
    This is considered an emergency and the member should immediately dial 911 for assistance.
  • Are there limits to how many visits can be scheduled within a month?
    Not at this time. However, Teladoc is committed to evaluating this program to ensure compliance with patient safety standards.
  • Is there a maximum number of days a prescription can be issued?
    At the discretion of the appropriate licensed specialist, prescriptions can be issued between 30-90 days.
  • Does STDCheck™, a Trusted Partner of Teladoc offer access to discreet laboratory testing?"
    Yes. Teladoc has partnered with SexualHealth to offer our members access to confidential STD lab testing.
  • How much do the STD tests cost?
    Pricing for STD individual tests and panels is available on the STDCheck site.
  • What are my payment options?
    STDCheck currently accepts Credit cards, pre-paid debit cards, cashiers checks, money orders, HSA accounts, FSA accounts, and PayPal. The member can present their insurance card at the lab and ask the lab to file a claim for reimbursement to the member. How does the process work? After you place your test order online or by phone, STDCheck will fax a doctor-authorized test requisition to the local lab of your choosing. At the lab walk-in visit, you’ll have a quick specimen draw. For most people, the lab visit takes about 15 minutes. In 3 business days or less, you’ll receive a discreet email directing you to login to your secure account on the STDCheck system to view your test results. For patients whose test results are positive or require further explanation, you are able to request a consult with a STDCheck doctor. If appropriate, the doctor will write a prescription for treatment or provide linkage to further care.
  • How quickly can I get my test results?
    Test results are typically ready in 3 business days or less.
  • How quickly can I speak with a physician?
    If you have a medical emergency, please go to the emergency room or call 911. If your question is non-urgent, please call a Care Advisor toll free at 888-456-2323 so they can direct your call to a doctor or nurse. For patients who receive positive STD test results, or whose results require further explanation, a consult may be requested with an STDCheck doctor at a time that is convenient for you. Once you request a consult, a doctor will call you back.
  • How can I learn more about STDCheck?
    Log into your Teladoc account and click on the Get a sexual health screening tile to learn more about our lab testing program.
  • Will my lab test be reflected in my medical record with Teladoc?
    No. Please contact STDCheck to request your lab test-specific medical record.
  • Can I get assistance if I have additional questions?
    The STDCheck Care Advisors are available 24/7 365 to guide you through the testing and test results process from start to finish. Simply call 800-456-2323.
  • Can my lab results be sent to my primary care provider?
    Yes. You can request a copy of your lab test through the STDCheck website.
  • If I need to speak with a physician, will I be speaking with a Teladoc provider?"
    No. Teladoc members will be speaking with a STDCheck provider. The providers are specially trained for STD tests.
  • What types of tests are available through STDCheck?
    STD testing for 8 of the most common sexually transmitted infections that can be detected through blood or urine: chlamydia, gonorrhea, hepatitis A, hepatitis B, hepatitis C, herpes 1 + 2, HIV antibody I & II, and syphilis.
  • Which laboratories does STDCheck work with?
    Your tests will be processed by the lab you select at the time you place your order. The laboratory options are among the largest CLIA-certified laboratories in the United States.
  • If the provider prescribes medications for my issue, can I pick it up the same day?"
    Yes. Prescriptions are typically sent electronically and can be picked up the same day. Please check with your pharmacy first to ensure they have the prescription ready for pick up.
  • If I have prescription problems, what should I do?"
    Contact STDCheck directly 24/7 365 at 800-456-2323 regarding any prescription-related issues.
  • When should I use Teladoc’s Everyday Care service?
    You should choose Everyday Care when you want to talk to a doctor by phone, video chat, or mobile app about non-emergency health issues like sinus problems, respiratory infections, allergies, flu symptoms, rashes, and many other illnesses. Your doctor will diagnose your symptoms and provide treatment, which may include a prescription.
  • Can Teladoc handle emergency situations?

  • Does the doctor review my medical history before a visit?
    We will ask you to complete a brief medical history prior to requesting your first visit, similar to filling out forms before an in-person doctor visit. You can update your medical history at any time through the Teladoc app. Your Teladoc medical history is stored on Teladoc's HIPAA-compliant, encrypted central server. Before each visit, the doctor will review your medical history with specific focus on chronic illnesses, current medications, allergies, and any changes in your medical condition.
  • Can I request a specific doctor?
    Depending on your benefits, you may be able to select a specific doctor for your visit. All Teladoc doctors are board-certified and state-licensed. To become an official Teladoc doctor, they go through our credentialing process and are thoroughly trained on how to provide the best virtual care experience.

  • When should I choose mental health services?
    We can help if you're not feeling like yourself, confused about a personal situation, experiencing anxiety or depression, or overwhelmed with everything going on. mental health services allow you to schedule a visit with a licensed therapist, or to schedule an appointment with a board-certified psychiatrist for help managing medications or more-serious diagnoses. Therapists and psychiatrists are available for appointments seven days a week from 7 a.m. to 9 p.m. local time, from wherever you are most comfortable, by phone or video. Visits with a therapist only last as long as you feel you need them.
  • How do I schedule a mental health visit?
    Go online, use the HealthiestYou app, or call us to schedule a visit. Before your visit, you will complete a brief mental health questionnaire to help your therapist or psychiatrist understand where you’re at and how you’re feeling. You can choose a therapist or psychiatrist and propose three times that work best for you. Your chosen provider will work on coordinating the schedule with you through the message center.
  • What should I expect during my visit?
    You will have a conversation with the mental health professional just as if you were at their office in person. We’re here to make you feel comfortable and heard.
  • What types of mental health professionals can prescribe medications?
    Our psychiatrists can prescribe medications, however they cannot prescribe any controlled substances or medications for the treatment of bipolar disorder or schizophrenia. Prescriptions for these drugs require in-person care and ongoing monitoring. You can use our services for therapy or to obtain other medications, but if you are currently taking any of the above drugs, we cannot prescribe refills.     Yes. You can see the same specialist throughout your treatment.
  • How do you match me with the right mental health physician?
    When you schedule a visit, we will ask you questions about your preferences for your mental health professional as well as questions about what your specific needs are. You will be able to choose from all matching specialist profiles, which will display information including gender, language, and specialties.
  • Will Teladoc follow up with each visit?
    Teladoc providers use the secure member message center after each visit to share a summary of the visit, and if you and your physician decide to schedule another visit, he or she will schedule that through the message center as well. Our licensed nursing staff may also reach out to you directly by phone after your visits to follow up, if needed.

    Our Dermatology service provides care from licensed dermatologists for persistent or serious skin issues like acne, rosacea, psoriasis, moles, or rashes.
  • What should I expect when requesting a Dermatology consult?
    When requesting a consult, you will be asked to provide a description of your skin condition and upload images of it. A dermatologist will review your request and contact you through our secure message center within two business days or less.
  • Do I have to upload an image?
    Yes. In order for the dermatologist to properly review and diagnose your condition, it is required that a minimum of three images be uploaded prior to scheduling your consult.
  • How long will it take for the dermatologist to respond to my visit request?
    The dermatologist will respond within two (2) business days, diagnosing your condition and providing a personalized treatment plan, or asking for more information if needed.
  • If the dermatologist has additional questions, how will I be notified?"
    Your dermatologist will message you through Teladoc’s secure message center if they need further clarification on the information you’ve submitted. If you have a new message from your dermatologist, you will receive a notification through email or text. You can also ask follow-up questions at no charge for up to seven days after receiving your diagnosis.

  • Can you prescribe antibiotics?
    Yes, however, any prescription of antibiotics must be accurate and professional. We understand the negative consequences that may result from over-prescribing, and thus our doctors will only write prescriptions in instances where such medication is absolutely necessary. Prescription Policy When it comes to prescriptions, our doctors make the call. Teladoc doctors are U.S. board-certified and licensed to practice medicine in your state. They can diagnose, treat and prescribe medication if medically necessary. When you request to speak with a doctor, we’ll ask you where you’d like any prescription to be sent; we’ll even help you find a pharmacy near you when you’re traveling.   • How do I set up my account?
    To set up your account, Click 'Sign Up for HealthiestYou by Teladoc' and fill out the info. You can also, download the HealthiestYou app on your mobile device.
  • How do I provide or update my billing information?

  • How do I complete my medical history?
    You will need to complete a brief medical history before requesting your first visit through Teladoc. You will also be asked to update your medical history once a year in order to keep your information current. You can update your medical history whenever you need to on the HealthiestYou mobile app.
  • How do I schedule a visit?
    To schedule a visit, log in to your account at HealthiestYou.com or the HealthiestYou mobile app and click the "Request a Visit" button on the home page. You will be asked a series of questions related to your reason for requesting a visit, similar to the forms you would fill out at a doctor’s office. If you have any issues or questions, you can always call1-866-703-1259 for assistance with scheduling a visit.
  • Is there a time limit on visits?
    The amount of time allocated to a visit varies depending on the treatment you seek: Everyday Care: There is no time limit, however most issues are resolved in under 15 minutes. mental health: The average mental health visit is 45 minutes, similar to an in-person therapy visit. Dermatology: All communication between you and your dermatologist is through Teladoc’s secure message center. You can ask follow-up questions at no charge for up to seven days and request the same dermatologist for subsequent consults if you wish.
  • How do I start my video visit?
    To join a video visit, log in to your account on HealthiestYou.com or the HealthiestYou mobile app and click “Join Waiting Room.” Please note that you cannot join a video visit through FaceTime or Skype. If you have requested an ASAP visit, please enter the Waiting Room as soon as you have requested your video visit. The provider will meet you in the Waiting Room when they become available. If you have requested a scheduled visit, please enter the Waiting Room at the day and time you have requested. You will receive a reminder by email or text 10 minutes prior to your scheduled visit time. Please note: Video visits cannot be joined through FaceTime or Skype. They must be joined from within the mobile app or through your Teladoc account.
  • What types of notifications will I receive for my visit?
    When requesting a visit, you have the option to receive text and email notifications, as well as push notifications* when using the HealthiestYou app. Notifications vary based on the service and device being used. You will always receive notification when: Your visit request is confirmed The provider is reviewing your medical history (the provider generally reviews your medical history 5-10 minutes prior to the start of your visit) The provider is ready to see you *Please enable push notifications through your mobile device settings in order to receive the above notifications from the HealthiestYou app.
  • How do I get ready for my video visit?
    Once you schedule a video visit, you will be asked to test your audio and video quality. This page runs simple tests on both your audio and video quality. If both are functioning properly, your computer has passed the test and you can proceed with video visits. *Please note: this test is not required when joining from a mobile device.
  • How will I know if my microphone and camera are working correctly?
    If your computer passes simple tests on video and sound quality, your microphone and camera are working properly and you can proceed with video visits.
  • Should I keep the HealthiestYou app open on my phone while I wait for the doctor to join my video visit?
    No, you do not have to leave your app open. However, please keep your phone near you so that the visit can begin right when the provider arrives. You will receive a text or email notification indicating the visit is about to start. If you have requested a scheduled visit, please enter the Waiting Room at the day and time you have requested. If you are not in the waiting room when the provider arrives, they will wait a few minutes before moving on to the next patient. Don’t worry, we will try to connect with you three times prior to canceling your visit. You will get a new set of notifications before every attempt, and you can stay in the waiting room while you wait for the next provider to join you.
  • How long will it take for the doctor to start my video visit?
    You will be given an estimated wait time when you request your video visit by web or on our mobile app. If you have received a notification that the doctor is ready to see you, you should go to the video visit Waiting Room as soon as possible. If you are not in the waiting room when the provider arrives, they will wait a few minutes before moving on to the next patient. Don’t worry, we will try to connect with you three times prior to canceling your visit. You will get a new set of notifications before every attempt, and you can stay in the waiting room while you wait for the next provider to join you. *The Waiting Room can be accessed from the HealthiestYou.com or HealthiestYou mobile app home page.
  • What should I do if I need to cancel a scheduled visit?

There you will see a “Cancel Visit” button, which you can click to cancel your visit. If you have any immediate issues or questions, please call 1-866-703-1259 for assistance.
  • What will happen after I schedule a visit?
    After you have submitted your visit request, you will receive notifications when: Your visit request is confirmed The provider is reviewing your medical history (the provider generally reviews your medical history 5-10 minutes prior to the start of your visit) The provider is ready to see you If you have requested an as-soon-as-possible visit, please enter the Waiting Room as soon as you have requested your video visit. The provider will meet you in the Waiting Room when they become available. If you have requested a scheduled visit, please enter the Waiting Room at the day and time you have requested. You will receive a reminder by email or text 10 minutes prior to your scheduled visit time.
  • How does the process work?
    After you place your test order online or by phone, STDCheck will fax a doctor-authorized test requisition to the local lab of your choosing. At the lab walk-in visit, you’ll have a quick specimen draw. The lab visit typically takes about 15 minutes. In three business days or less, you’ll receive a discreet email directing you to log in to your secure account on the STDCheck system to view your test results. For patients whose test results are positive or require further explanation, you are able to request a consult with an STDCheck doctor. If appropriate, the doctor will write a prescription for treatment or provide linkage to further care.
  • How quickly can I get my lab results?
    Lab results are finalized and sent to you discreetly in three business days or less. For patients who receive positive STD test results, or whose results require further explanation, a consult may be requested with an STDCheck doctor at a time that is convenient for you. Once you request a consult, a doctor will call you back.
  • Will my lab results be added to my medical record?
    No. Please contact STDCheck to request your lab test-specific medical record.
  • Can my lab results be sent to my main doctor?
    Yes. You can request a copy of your lab test through the STDCheck website.
  • How much does it cost?
    Pricing for STD individual tests and panels is available on the STDCheck site. STDCheck currently accepts credit cards, prepaid debit cards, cashier's checks, money orders, health savings accounts (HSA), flexible spending accounts (FSA), and PayPal. The member can present their insurance card at the lab and ask the lab to file a claim for reimbursement to the member.

    You can request an Expert Medical Opinion on the HealthiestYou app or website, or call us at 1-866-703-1259. Once a case is opened, a member of our clinical team will call you to better understand your needs, determine what types of records need to be collected, and to answer your questions about the process.
  • Do I have to travel or collect my own medical records?
    No. We will handle everything for you. All your contact with us is over the phone or online. You do not need to travel or contact your doctor(s) to obtain records, images, or other information related to your case.
  • How much do Teladoc Medical Experts services cost?
    The services are at no cost to you or your eligible dependents. Any tests and treatment options recommended by one of our medical specialists are not paid through Teladoc; those payments will depend on the terms of a member’s health insurance coverage. All recommendations from our specialists are completely voluntary.
  • If I use Medical Experts services, does that mean Teladoc is now my treating physician?"
    No. Teladoc Medical Experts provides medical information only. These services do not provide medical care, diagnoses, or treatments. You will not be a patient of Teladoc or of any Teladoc Health expert who reviews your case. These services are only for additional medical insight on your condition. No doctor-patient relationship will be created between you and Teladoc or you and a medical expert. Your treating physician is still responsible for your care and all treatment decisions will be made solely between you and your treating physician.

    Yes, The HealthiestYou Complete Bundle allows you to use the Teladoc service for you, your spouse, and your dependents.
